This one-of-a-kind Endless River Raku style companion urn has a mesmerizing look and features a visually striking oak burl, brass, and cork finial. It's reminiscent of elements that can be found in nature.
The urn measures 9.5 inches in height and 12 inches at its widest point. This urn has the capacity of 450 cubic inches.
This rapid spontaneous method of glazing and firing was created in Japan in the 16th century. The pieces fired in this way were used for the Zen tea ceremony. The word "Raku" means "felicity or happiness". The urn is quickly fired and removed from the kiln still white hot. It is then placed on a stone or the ground to cool. Every piece is different and one of a kind.
This urn is grounded and inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi where broken or cracked vessels are repaired with resin mixed or dusted with gold. Missing pieces are replaced with other found objects. The Japanese and others have come to cherish the imperfection of a broken vessel fixed this way.
