The Pontalba individual size urn's design is inspired by the cast iron work seen throughout New Orleans. Specifically from the iron work seen on the well known balconies of the Pontalba Apartment buildings that flank either side of Jackson Square in the French Quarter. This iron work dates back to 1850 and can be traced back to the architectural influences from Spanish rule in New Orleans.
The photo etched designs in this urn cover all four sides and the top. A false bottom secured by brass screws allow access to the urn. An antique finish is applied to this copper urn and then sealed with wax for a rich finish.
It measures 8″ h x 6″ w x 4.5″ d with the capacity of up to 220 cubic inches.
This urn can be customized by etching the name of your loved one and dates ($90 extra). If you want the name and dates added, please provide them in the Special Instructions box when checking out. Thank you.
Due to this urn being hand riveted, many of the seams are not airtight. Ashes must be contained inside of a plastic bag. A heavy plastic bag is provided inside of the urn that serves as a liner. This can then be sealed, securing the ashes in the urn.
