This dignified wooden chest individual size urn with hand cast fine pewter is crafted with flawless solid Cherry and lots of attention to detail. The urn features centuries-old technique of dovetail joinery and unique closure system in the Spanish windlass style to add another layer of detailed craftsmanship. It has a hand rubbed finish.
The urn measures 8.25 inches in height, 7.5 in depth and 7.5 inches in width with the capacity of up to 220 cubic inches.
Note about the Spanish windlass style closure system: Spanish windlass was used for centuries to secure cargo in the holds of ships. The basic principle is that of a tourniquet. A rod is slid under a line, then turned so that both ends of the rod pass over the top of the line. The rod is turned until the desired amount of pressure is achieved. Then the end of the rod is secured to the line preventing it from unwinding.
